Description
Deal Farmhouse is a house dating from the 16th century and late 18th century. It features mixed walling, with the first floor of the front and south side being tile-hung, including sections with scalloped bands. The ground floor is made of painted ironstone. At the rear, there is exposed timber framing with ironstone infill and some painted brickwork. The roof is half-hipped, hipped at the north end, and has lower eaves above an outshot, along with a further gabled extension. The house has a shafted stack and is timber-framed with a cross-wing at the south end, which was altered to a lobby entrance in the early 17th century. The south-east front is two storeys high with three windows, featuring small casements. There is a boarded door in a plain frame. At the rear, the angle between the main block and the cross-wing is filled with an outshot, possibly a staircase unit.
