Description

The Small House is a house of timber-framed origin, largely dating to the late 18th century. The front wall is of brickwork with blue headers and red flush quoins, a first-floor band, and cambered openings; the brickwork below the ground-floor cill level is in Flemish bond. The roof is tiled. The west front is regular with two storeys and four windows, with blank space above the entrance. It features Victorian sash windows. A doorway has a moulded canopy supported on carved brackets, an architrave, and a six-panelled door. The north side has a plain door which provides entrance to a through-passage with a brick-nogged timber frame. A brick on the north wall is inscribed "KL 1798". Internally, there are two 18th-century cupboards set in recesses.
