Description
No. 6 High Street is a disused house and butcher's shop that dates back to the 17th century, with some early 18th-century re-cladding and early 19th-century features. The timber frame is exposed on the north side and at the north gable, with brick infill. The other walls are constructed of brickwork in Flemish bond, featuring blue headers, a plinth, and rubbed flat arches with keys. The building has a tile roof that is half-hipped at the north end, which includes a gablet.
The east front of the house is symmetrical, consisting of two storeys with two windows, while the north side includes a shopfront. The windows are casements, and there is a plain doorway. The shop has shuttered windows and a tiled canopy that is hipped and supported on posts, featuring side arms and a central spar on three wrought-iron brackets, along with a boarded door.
