Description

This is a pair of shops dating from the early 19th century, located on the south side of Cliffe High Street. The buildings are stuccoed, with parapets that conceal the roofs. Decorative panelled pilasters rise from the first floor to the parapet, flanking each property. The shops are three storeys high, each with two windows. The windows are glazing bar sashes, with those on the first floor being deeper than those above. A wide, splayed oriel bay on the first floor to the left has replaced two windows. The windows elsewhere are glazing bar sashes, while the oriel bay has large casements. A 20th-century double shopfront is on the left, with a central glazed door set within it. A 1930s shopfront is on the right, featuring a two-over-three glazed door and a panelled door leading up two steps, accompanied by a transom light above. Note that the glazing bars have now been removed from the second-floor windows, and the shopfront on the left is now single with a door to the left.
