Description
No 174 is a house that has been converted into an office. It dates from the late 16th century and features 19th-century cladding. The building is timber-framed and tile-hung, with decorative shapes and diapering. It has simply moulded barge-boards on a plain tiled roof, which includes large stacks at the rear on the left side. The gable end faces the street and the building has a jetty below the first and second floors supported by heavy wooden bressumers. It is three storeys high with a single window front. The second floor has glazing bar sashes, while the first floor features a small splayed bay under the jetty. To the left, there is an early 20th-century double shopfront with a central half-glazed door. An alley entrance leads to the rear on the right side. At the back, there is a double-jettied rear wing that is hidden above the ground floor. Inside, there is an early 17th-century fire-surround and panelling on the first floor. Lower central sashes without glazing bars are also present.
