GREATHAM SU 73 SE 6/10001 Barn, stables and cow byre at Burhunt Farm

GV II

Threshing Barn and stables and cow byre. Early C17 barn,early to mid C19 stables and mid C19 cow byre. Timber-framed barn clad in weatherboarding on brick and stone base. Hipped tiled roof. Hipped cart entrance to north. 5 bay barn aisled to east. Jowled posts and queenpost roof with through purlins and curved wind braces. Wall frame has midrail and diagonal braces. Later pig pens attached. Attached to south east is early to mid C19 2 storey stable range. Built of clunch with red brick dressings and tiled roof. Cambered windows and doors. Interior contains early C19 wooden feeding troughs and mid C19 ceramic troughs. Attached to south is a 1 storey open fronted cow byre. Rear and side walls are of clunch with brick pilasters and tiled roof wooden piers to front are set in circular padstones tapering towards top.

Granary. Early Cl9. Timber framed, clad in weatherboarding with hipped tiled roof. 3 x 3 bays supported an staddle stones. This may have been used mainly as an apple store.
