Description
The White House is a house dating from around 1700, with early 19th-century and late 19th-century details. It features walls made of painted malmstone rubble, accented with brick dressings and some cambered arches over the ground floor openings. The front has a steep slate roof that is half-hipped at the ends, while the rear has a hipped roof with a lower pitch and higher eaves. A narrow timber-framed block, which is one storey with an attic and has two windows above, adjoins the roadway. At the rear, there is a taller and wider addition from the early 19th century that is two storeys high. The house has casement windows and two plain doorways. The north elevation, which displays the two phases of construction, is visible from the street.
