Description
Bush House is a house and shop, now functioning as a tearoom, that dates back to the 16th century. It was altered in the 17th century, refronted in the early 19th century, and has a 20th-century addition. The building features a timber frame with brick infill, and the front wall is covered in plain render. One gable displays exposed framing with close studding filled with brickwork, and it has a tiled roof.
The late medieval timber frame consists of three bays and a smoke bay, which includes a large 17th-century stack. There is a minor extension at one end, and the front was reclad in the early 19th century. In front of the other end, there is a 20th-century projecting shop. The front elevation is one and a half storeys high with four unequal bays. The entrance is an off-centre plain door, flanked by 19th-century four-pane sash windows, and above each window are large gabled dormers built off the wallplate. A small light is positioned over the door.
At the right end, there is a projecting single-storey shop with a simple form, featuring a gable over a glazed front with a doorway. The roof is half-hipped, and there is a shafted ridge stack located to one side of the centre.
