Description

Cherry Tree Cottage is a house that dates back to the late medieval period. It features a timber-framed hall with a smoke bay and a crosswing, where a fireplace has been inserted into the smoke bay. The upper floor in the hall creates a lobby-entrance house. The exterior has early 19th-century cladding and a 20th-century rear wing. The walls are made of brick in Flemish Garden Wall bond, with a thin first-floor band and cambered openings. The west gable shows an exposed frame. The roof is tiled with gabled dormers. The south front elevation has one storey and an attic, with two above four windows, including casements and a French door. The exposed framework inside reveals the different phases of construction.
