Description
The Malthouse is a house that originated in the 17th century but was mainly constructed in the late 18th century, with extensions added in the mid-19th century. The building features brick walls laid in English bond, a parapet, rubbed flat arches, and stone cills, topped by a plain tile roof. The west front was originally symmetrical with two storeys and three windows, but a 19th-century extension on the south side added an extra window. The windows are sashes set in reveals. The entrance includes a six-panelled door, two of which are glazed, framed by an architrave and topped with a moulded cornice supported by console brackets. Inside, there is an 18th-century staircase, a flagged hall, several panelled doors within architraves, two arched cupboards, and some ceiling beams from the 17th century.
