Description

Farthing Cottage is a house dating back to the 17th century, originally a timber-framed lobby-entrance house. It was expanded in the 18th century with a west cross wing and in the early 19th century with an east cross wing. The 20th century saw a renovation of the property. The walls are a mix of brickwork in a Flemish bond pattern, some tile hanging, and a rendered east wing. The roof is tiled, with low eaves at the rear and taller gabled and hipped wings, including gabled dormers. A central stack is shafted. The north front is one storey and attic, with a two-storeyed east wing featuring 1.3 windows above 4. The windows are casements. A boarded door provides entrance. Inside, original timber framing and substantial chimneys are visible.
