Description

The property comprises a cottage, originally built in the 16th century, and subsequently extended in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is now two separate cottages. The structure is timber-framed with brick infill and a wing of flint with brick dressing, all covered by an old plain tile roof. The original three-bay timber-frame design has a projecting bay added to the front on the right, dating to the 18th century, and an early 19th-century bay with a wing added to the left end. The main front of the building has four bays, with a half-story. There are two 19th-century segmental-headed three-light casement windows; above the central bays are 19th-century gabled two-light dormers built off the wallplate, with the main posts of the timber frame exposed. The end bays are blank but contain a 19th-century door and window on the inner side of the right projecting bay. The roof is hipped, with a lower hipped roof over the front wing. A ridge stack is located at the left end of the timber frame, and another at the inner end of the right-hand bay.
