Description

Dean Farmhouse is a house dating from the early 17th century, with 20th-century extensions to the rear and north side. The walls are made of knapped flint with decorative brick dressings. These include rusticated quoins around the openings and vertical and horizontal brick elements above and below various bands. There is a moulded plinth band, a first-floor band with central projections, and an eaves band that incorporates a projected brick dentil band, which is interrupted before the openings. The building features deep end pilasters and chamfered openings, while other walls are constructed of brickwork in English bond. The south gable is tile-hung. The prominent roof is tiled, hipped at the north end, and includes a cat slide over part of the rear, with the lower 20th-century extensions also hipped. The north extension matches the main style, and there is a plain narrow rear wing, creating an L shape. The west elevation has two storeys with one window and four openings, featuring thick wooden window frames with chamfered reveals, nullioned windows, and transoms on the north side. There is a Tudor arched brick doorframe with a boarded door. The rear elevation is simpler, with various window styles, including two hipped dormers. Inside, the farmhouse has panelling.
