Description
Evenlode is a cottage that dates from the 16th century, with additions from the 18th and 19th centuries. It features a timber frame encased in brick, along with brick additions, and has a thatched roof. The original 16th-century house consists of two bays, with a store bay added to the left when it was encased in brick in the 18th century. To the right, there is a two-storey wing from the 19th century. The front has four bays and is one and a half to two storeys high.
The 19th-century door is located at the centre of the 16th-century part, with a bay window to the left and a door to the store at the left end. To the right, there are 19th-century casement windows. Above the 16th-century house, there are two eyebrow dormers with tall 19th-century two-light casements, and another 19th-century casement window to the right. The roof is hipped with a ridge piece, and there are stacks with offset heads on either side of the 16th-century house, with a much higher ridge to the right over the 19th-century bay, where the roof face slopes up with a weatherboarded triangle between the wall levels of the building.
