Description

This barn and stables, located 40 yards east of Kings Farmhouse, dates mainly from the 18th century, with some restoration in the 20th century. The barn is positioned at right angles to the roadway, while the adjoining stable runs parallel to it. The roadside elevation features a half-hipped roof on the barn and a lower roof on the stable, both covered in tiles, although the barn also has areas with corrugated asbestos roofing. The walls are boarded and sit on a deep basement made of brickwork and malmstone. Inside, the timber-framing is believed to suggest that the structure may have originally served as a medieval house.
