Description

The walls of the Old Naval Prison, built in 1793, are made of red brick in English bond and feature a buttress at the northwest corner. The wall is L-shaped, measuring about 5 yards long from east to west, with a longer section extending to the south, standing approximately 12 to 15 feet high. Originally constructed for civilian use, the prison was repurposed during the Crimean War. It was demolished in 1963 to accommodate a road scheme, leaving only the remaining walls.
