Description

The Red Lion Inn is a public house dating from the late 16th century, originally built as a Wealden house. It features small extensions from the 18th century at each end and has undergone restoration in the 20th century, along with some minor extensions. The building has an exposed frame with jettied upper floors on each side, supported by curved braces that hold up the eaves plate. The walls include painted brick infill and some flintwork at the rear. The roof is hipped thatch with a catslide at the rear, extending to a lower eaves at the south end. The east front is two storeys high, with a layout of one window, one window, and one window above four windows. The windows are casements, and there is a plain doorway with a porch at the south end.
