Description
The Plough Inn is a Wealden hall house that has been converted into a public house. It dates from the 15th century and was altered in the 19th century. The building is timber framed and rendered, with parts clad in painted brick, and features a plain tiled roof. It consists of four framed bays and is two storeys high. Originally, both end bays jettied, but now only the right end is jettied and is supported by a dragon post. The central flying wall plate is supported by arched braces and a bracket. The roof is hipped with gablets and has stacks at the left end, centre left, and right end. On the first floor, there are two wooden casements and a sash window on the right. The ground floor features a 19th-century five-light mullioned window and a sash window, along with two metal casements to the left in a projecting catslide outshot. There is a half-glazed door located to the centre left, which is sheltered by a hipped porch with a cornice. Inside, the building has a crown post roof.
