Description
The Red Lion is a public house dating from the early 16th century. It features a timber-framed and plastered structure, with part of the building underbuilt in painted brick. The roof is plain tiled and the layout follows a Wealden hall house plan with four framed bays. The building has two storeys, with jetties on the right side and underbuilding on the left. A flying wall plate is present over the central bays, supported by curved braces and brackets. The roof is hipped with gablets and has stacks located at the left end, rear right, and right end. There are four wooden casements on the first floor and three on the ground floor, along with a boarded door positioned to the centre left, which is topped by a flat hood. Inside, notable features include dragon beams and a crown post roof.
