Description
The barn at Westbury Manor is an 18th-century structure featuring a weatherboarded timber frame set on a brick plinth. It has a hipped roof covered in corrugated sheet steel. The barn is designed with eight bays, including aisles on both sides and two threshing bays that have opposing cart entrances.
On the north front, there are cart entrances on the left and right, each with flat roof canopies supported by straight braces and corrugated sheet steel doors. A similar canopy is found at the rear, with lower ranges attached to both sides.
Inside, the barn has jowled arcade-posts that support arcade-plates and tie-beams, which are reinforced with straight braces. The tie-beam trusses feature queen-struts that rise to clasped purlins, but there are no collars present. The barn also includes wind-braces, and the common-rafters and battens are intact. The wall framing remains largely intact, showcasing tension-braces, long straight braces, and tall studs, but lacks rails.
