Description

Tubbs Farmhouse is a house dating from the 16th century, with significant additions and alterations in the 17th, late 18th, mid-19th, and 20th centuries. The construction is of mixed materials. The rear elevation displays exposed timber framing with infill of malmstone and brickwork. The front elevation is primarily malmstone, with some areas of coursed stone incorporating galletting, other areas of polygonal stone, and brick dressings including quoins, cambered arches, and a plinth, with an ironstone base. Later sections of the house, dating to the mid-19th century, are of brickwork and malmstone. The roof is tiled, hipped at the south end, and includes a gabled dormer and two further gabled half-dormers at the front. The house is timber-framed, with extensions and alterations. The west front has one-and-a-half storeys and displays a window arrangement of two windows above four (one filled). Victorian sash windows are present in the dormers, while casements are found elsewhere. An early 19th-century stone porch, with a tile roof and a side entrance, is also present.
