Description
Middle Oakshott House is a house that dates from the 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. It features walls made of malmstone rubble, with some ashlar and brick quoins, as well as cambered arches. The upper walls at the rear have some tile-hanging. The roof is tiled, hipped on the west side, and has a half-hipped central gable. At the rear, there is a complex arrangement of gables and gabled dormers. This is a lobby-entrance house with significant rear extensions from the late 19th century. The southeast front has two storeys and an attic, with five windows. The windows are 20th-century casements, and there is a plain oak door. Inside, there are massive beams and a chimney-breast, some 17th-century oak panelling, and indications of an earlier origin as a timber-framed hall. The house was formerly part of Froxfield Parish.
