Description
The farm buildings of Midlington Farm, built in 1848, form extensive ranges on three sides of a courtyard. The walls are made of flint with brick quoins, featuring cambered openings, vertical bands, and large diamonds for ventilation. The roofs are slate. The south block is a barn with a rectangular plan and near-symmetrical elevations on the north and south sides, which include three waggon entrances and a pattern of three, two, two, two diamonds. The north range, which contains a hay loft above stables, is similar in size but lacks features on the north (roadside) elevation. It has a series of openings on the south side facing the courtyard, with hay-loft doors above doors and intermediate windows. The east range is lower and consists of a cartshed open to the courtyard and a range of stables, also featureless on the east roadside elevation. A plaque inscribed with the date 1848 is present. This group of buildings remains virtually unaltered.
