Description
Porch House is a house that was formerly two cottages. It dates from the 16th century and features a timber frame with 18th-century cladding. The walls include sections of brick and flint, as well as flint walls with brick quoin bands and cambered arches. There is a small exposure of the frame at the rear. The roof is tiled and has two levels; the south side is higher and steeper with a hipped end, and there are wavy eaves boards on part of it, along with two flat-roofed half-dormers. The timber-framed building may have been shortened and replaced around 1800 on the north side. The west front elevation is one and a half storeys and two storeys high, with 2.1 windows featuring casements. At the junction of the two parts, there is a gabled 18th-century porch made of brickwork, which has a band linked to the key of the arched opening, impost bands, and small side openings (one with four small turned balusters). The porch also has decorative Victorian bargeboards and a boarded door in a plain frame. There is a rear extension that is one storey high and dates from around 1900.
