Description
Tithes and Broom Cottage began as a barn, later converted into two houses arranged in a single range. The core of the building dates back to the 17th century, though it was significantly altered in the early 19th century and renovated in the 20th century. The original timber frame is visible on the north elevation, featuring close-studding and flint infill above a low brick wall constructed in a Flemish Garden Wall bond. The front elevation is a mix of brickwork in English bond and flintwork, with brick quoins and bands. The roof is tiled. The south-facing front elevation has two storeys and five windows, with 20th-century casement windows and doors. A 20th-century brick wing with a hipped roof extends from the west side. Exposed timber framing can be seen inside Tithes.
