Description
Dortons is a pair of cottages built in the 18th century, early 19th century, and 1914. The north side features walls made of ashlar malmstone, while the middle and south sections are constructed of brickwork in Flemish bond. A former central door has been blocked, and there is a small area of exposed framing in the upper part of the middle section. The cottages have a tiled roof and present a continuous south-west elevation of one storey and an attic, with two windows above one window and one window above two windows. The windows are casements, and there are entrances at both ends and at the rear. At the back of the northern unit, there is a wing built in 1914 with stone walls and some upper boarding. Inside the northern unit, there is notable 17th-century oak panelling, a 17th-century staircase, 17th-century beams, and a mullion and transom window, all of which were incorporated during the 1914 alterations and extensions.
