Description
The Church of St Peter and St Paul is a parish church located in Exton, originally built in the 13th century, with significant restoration completed in 1847. This restoration included the installation of a new nave roof, the addition of a porch, and the removal of the west gallery. The church features walls made of coursed flint rubble with stone dressings, lancet windows (one of which is original), and a three-light Perpendicular window that has been restored. The roof is tiled, topped with a shingled spire above a western bell turret constructed from vertical boarding. The church has an aisless nave and chancel, a north vestry, and a south porch. Inside the chancel, there is a double piscina and two niches with canopies on the east wall, along with several notable 18th-century wall monuments. Additional wall monuments can be found on the west wall of the nave. The church also contains Victorian stone Perpendicular frames with inscriptions displayed on the nave wall and a Victorian font designed in a tall Early English style.
