Description
The pump and wellhead in the grounds of Southover Grange dates from 1789. It features a cast-iron frame and handle, with an inner lead funnel and a hopperhead that has a spout on the left side. The structure is positioned over a wellhead, which is surrounded by low brick walls set on a moulded plinth, topped with bolection-mould coping. The hopperhead of the pump is decorated with two crude figures on either side and a tree in the center, along with the markings: 1 N 7 W A 8 9.
