Description
The Caprons is a house located on Keere Street in Lewes, dating from the early to mid 18th century. It features a façade of grey brick headers with red brick quoins and dressings. The building has a moulded brick cornice and a plain tiled roof with gable parapets, end stacks, and three segment-headed dormers. It stands two storeys high with a basement and attic, and includes a plinth and platband. The front has a regular arrangement of five windows, which are glazing bar sashes with gauged heads and red brick dressed surrounds. The first-floor windows have wooden slats, while the ground-floor windows are fitted with louvred shutters. The central entrance has arched reveals, a panelled door, and a Gothic-glazed fanlight, framed by a Doric pilastered surround that supports an entablature hood. The basement features segment-headed windows. To the west, there are arrow-headed railings surrounding the area.
