Description
St Michael's Court is an early 18th-century almshouse row that was rebuilt in 1846 and converted into two houses in the late 18th century. The building features coursed flint on a brick plinth, with yellow brick quoins, window dressings, and moulded brick gable parapets on kneelers. It has a plain tiled roof with a ridge stack and stands two storeys tall. The gable end facing the road has a single three-light deep wooden mullioned window with iron diamond lattice glazing on each floor, with a rendered panel in between that carries a moulded coat-of-arms. The south front has irregular fenestration and a gabled return projection at the far end facing the road. There are 20th-century wooden casements throughout, except in the gable ends, and flat-roofed 20th-century porch extensions on the left side of the south front and at the far right.
