Description
The Toll House Fish and Chip Shop is a toll house that has been converted into a shop, built in 1840. It is constructed from coursed squared gritstone with gritstone dressings. The building features a steeply pitched hipped roof made of 20th-century concrete tiles, topped with a central stone octagonal ridge stack. It is a single-storey structure with three bays and an elongated octagonal plan.
On the west elevation, there is a central two-light recessed and chamfered mullion window, accompanied by a similar single-light window to the south. To the north, there is a flush doorcase with a Tudor dripmould and a plank door. Both the doorcase and the single-light window are set at an angle to the central window. The rear elevation mirrors the design of the front.
