Description

The Old Malt House is a malt house that has been converted into a warehouse. It dates from the late 18th century and has undergone various alterations in the 19th century. The building is constructed of rendered stone with gritstone dressings, most of which are painted, and features quoins. It has a slate roof with a brick gable end stack on the east side.

The structure has five storeys and three bays, with the eastern bay recessed. The central entrance features a 19th-century segmented brick archway with a plank door. To the west, there is a two-light flush mullion window and a brick segmental-headed doorcase with a plank door and a plain overlight.

On the east side, there are inserted 20th-century garage doors. Above these, there is a quoined flush doorcase from the 18th century. A blocked two-light flush mullion window is also present to the east, and beyond it, in the recessed bay, there is a plain sash window in a flush surround. Above, there are two two-light flush mullion windows, followed by a similar window arrangement on the upper levels, continuing to the eaves. The rear of the building features various two-light flush mullion windows and a segmental archway on the east side, which has chamfered voussoirs but is now filled with a 20th-century window and door.

There are no notable features inside the building.
