Description

SK 17 NW PARISH OF WHESTON 3/45 12.7.67 Vicarage Farmhouse II

Farmhouse. Dated 1637 on door lintel. Coursed rubble limestone with gritstone dressings, flush quoins, coped gable with moulded kneelers to west end crosswing, intermediate and east end stone ridge stacks with moulded caps, modern concrete tiles and stone slates. 'L' plan with advanced crosswing to west end. Two storeys, four bays with recessed chamfer mullioned openings of 2,3,4 and 6-lights, the majority beneath hoodmoulds with stops. The 6-light window to the ground floor has a major mullion. Openings have C19 and C20 casements, some with glazing bars. To the west of the major mullioned opening, there is a small paned window. Doorway to the return wall of the crosswing has a chamfered quoined surround, and dated lintel with illegible weathered inscription. Plain C20 door. Former doorway, now blocked, to the east of the 6-light window.
