Description
Vicarage Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1637, as indicated on the door lintel. It is constructed from coursed rubble limestone with gritstone dressings. The building features flush quoins, a coped gable with moulded kneelers at the west end crosswing, and stone ridge stacks with moulded caps, although it has modern concrete tiles and stone slates. The farmhouse has an 'L' plan with an advanced crosswing at the west end and is two storeys high, comprising four bays.
The openings are recessed chamfer mullioned windows with 2, 3, 4, and 6 lights, most of which are topped with hoodmoulds that have stops. The 6-light window on the ground floor includes a major mullion. The windows have 19th and 20th-century casements, some of which retain glazing bars. To the west of the major mullioned opening, there is a small paned window.
The doorway on the return wall of the crosswing features a chamfered quoined surround and a dated lintel with an illegible weathered inscription, leading to a plain 20th-century door. There is also a former doorway, now blocked, located to the east of the 6-light window.
