Description

Foxlowe House is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations in the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared rubble limestone with gritstone dressings. Features include projecting quoins, coped gables, end ashlar ridge stacks with moulded caps, concrete tiles, Welsh slates, and stone slates. The house is arranged in an 'L' plan. The symmetrical front elevation has a three-bay arrangement, with glazing bar sashes in plain stone surrounds. A moulded doorcase with a shallow bracketed hood shelters the panelled double doors and rectangular overlight. The rear elevation retains an 18th-century flush mullioned window with leaded lights. A boundary wall runs along the street elevation. This wall is of coursed rubble with saddleback copings, and incorporates stone gate piers, square in plan, with moulded square caps.
