Description
Top House and No 5 are a pair of houses located on Church Avenue in Tideswell, dating from the late 18th century. They are constructed from coursed squared rubble limestone with gritstone dressings, featuring chamfered quoins and plain eaves. The buildings have a Welsh slated roof and stand three storeys high with three bays. Originally, they had sash windows set in projecting stone surrounds, but these have been replaced with 20th-century joinery on the first and second floors. There are two doorways: the southern doorway has a moulded stone surround and a 19th-century six-panelled door beneath a flat bracketed hood, while the northern doorway features a plain stone surround and a 20th-century half-glazed door. The buildings are listed for their group value.
