Description

This row of four lime kilns was built in 1878 and altered in 1923. They are constructed from rubble limestone and stand about thirty feet tall with a noticeable batter. The north side features four round-arched openings. Buttresses were added during the 1923 alterations. These large commercial lime kilns were located near the railway and were opened by the Millers Dale Lime Company in 1878, operating until their closure in 1930.
