Description
The barn located to the north of Hazlebadge Hall dates back to the 16th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed from coursed limestone and gritstone rubble, featuring gritstone dressings and quoins, and has a stone slate roof. The barn has a combination of two storeys and single storey sections, organized into six bays, with the two northern bays set forward and covered by a catslide roof.
At the southern end, there is a four-centred arched chamfered doorcase with flush quoined sides. A similar door to the north has been blocked, with a window now inserted. Between the doors, there is a rectangular breather, along with three similar breathers further north. The northern side features tall threshing bay doors with a timber lintel, and beyond these, there are advanced bays that include a four-centred arched quoined doorcase and a 19th-century flat arched doorcase, with breathers on either side. Above, there are small square breathers. On the southern side, there are two square flush hayloft openings, with rectangular breathers situated between them.
