Description

Stanley House and the attached stableblock are a pair of small houses, now combined into one, dating from the early 19th century with a later 19th-century addition. The buildings are constructed from tooled, coursed, squared gritstone, featuring gritstone dressings and raised gritstone quoins. They have a hipped stone slate roof with lead flashings and large stone ridge end stacks, along with a stone side wall stack on the west side. The main part of the house has a plinth and a coved eaves cornice, while the western addition features castellated parapets.

The structure is two storeys high and has an L-plan with the western addition. The northern street elevation displays two adjoining doorcases with flush quoining, continuous moulded hoods, and panelled doors. Flanking these are glazing bar sash windows in flush surrounds. In the recessed addition to the west, there is a 20th-century casement window in a flush surround, with similar windows arranged above. The east elevation has a single doorcase at the centre, with similar sash windows on either side and above, although the upper northern sash has been replaced by a 20th-century window.

The southern stableblock is rendered and features a segmental-headed archway, a doorcase, and a window. Above, there is a glazing bar sash in a flush surround, along with a hayloft opening to the south and an inserted 20th-century window to the north.
