Description
Eyam View Farm Buildings is a range of farm buildings constructed in the early 19th century, arranged around three sides of a square. The buildings are made of coursed limestone rubble with tooled gritstone dressings and feature stone slate roofs, with the roof of the pigeon loft being pyramidal in shape.
The south range includes a flush doorcase to the east, which has a plank door, and a similar doorcase to the west that now contains a later 19th-century window. Between these doorcases is a partly blocked window with an iron lamp above it, and above this is a casement window set in a flush surround. The western range also has a flush doorcase, which has been filled in with a later window to the south. To the north, there is a line of four segmental-headed quoined flush arches; the second arch from the north has large 20th-century doors hung over it, while the arches on either side are blind except for small shuttered openings. The northern arch provides access through the building, and above it are two sliding sashes in flush surrounds.
At the north end, there is a square pigeon loft tower featuring a semi-circular headed opening with a raised keystone, along with pigeon holes and shelves. The interior contains 400 stone pigeonholes with stone shelves. The northern range is lower and has two flush doorcases to the west, along with a large wooden extension that has doors to the east and a flush window at the extreme east.
