Description
Granby House, numbers 1-5, is a building now converted into flats. It dates from the late 18th century, with a 19th-century addition. The structure is made of deeply-coursed sandstone with ashlar dressings and has a graduated Welsh slate roof.
The exterior features three storeys and a three-window range, with a two-storey, two-window range addition on the left. The main part has a symmetrical facade with raised quoins, ground floor and first-floor sill bands, and projecting stone sills for the 6/6 sash windows in plain surrounds. The second floor has 3/3 sash windows. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door with an etched glass fanlight, set within a round arched ashlar doorcase that has a dentilled cornice. There are corniced ashlar stacks at both ends. The addition is styled similarly and includes a moulded cast-iron gutter and an end stack on the left.
At the rear, there is a central ashlar porch with an archivolt featuring a rusticated keystone, a cornice, and a parapet with a lantern. The building also has single-storey rectangular bay windows with tripartite sashes. The interior has not been inspected.
