Description
Bakewell Post Office is a pair of houses, now serving as a post office and shop, located facing Water Street. They were built around 1800 and are constructed from deeply-coursed, dressed sandstone with a stone slate roof.
The exterior features a two-storey design with a central doorway for each house, along with one window on each floor. The doorways have bonded ashlar surrounds, with a part-glazed, four-panel door on the right and a panel that includes a posting box and stamp machine within the doorway to the left. The windows are 8/8 sashes set in ashlar surrounds, with projecting stone sills. The right gable has an acute splay, and there is a stone end stack. The interior has not been inspected.
