Description
The Peacock is a public house dating from the late 18th century. It features a deeply-coursed sandstone facade, with limestone rubble, roughcast, and dressed sandstone used in other areas, topped by a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has a three-window range with wings at the rear. Large quoins accentuate the structure. The doorway, located to the right of center, has a painted ashlar surround. Flanking this are 8/8 sash windows with projecting stone sills and painted surrounds. On the first floor, there are matching openings with leaded lights in transomed casements. The building has ashlar end stacks with bands. The left side is made of limestone rubble and features sashes with glazing bars on the ground floor. The right side is roughcast. At the rear, there is a dressed stone wing that has 8/8 sashes on each floor and a hipped roof with rolled-lead ridges. The interior has not been inspected.
