Description
This is a terrace of four cottages located to the west of item 51 in the parish of Middleton and Smerrill. Built in the 19th century, the cottages are constructed from coursed, squared gritstone and feature two ridge stacks and a stone slate roof. Each cottage has a 2-light chamfer mullioned window on the ground floor, with a single light opening above, all set in stone surrounds. The ground floor windows and stone-framed doorways are topped with hood moulds that have stops. The two cottages at the eastern end still have their original plank doors. The front gardens are enclosed by a low limestone rubble boundary wall, which has half round gritstone copings and gritstone gate piers.
