Description

This is a 19th-century smithy located to the rear of The Square in the parish of Middleton and Smerrill. It is constructed from rubble limestone and features gable ridge stacks, with the one at the west end being octagonal and extending 2 metres above the ridge. The building has a stone slate roof and is two storeys high, with a single-storey shed attached to the east end. On the north elevation, there is a single rectangular cast iron window with glazing bars that lights the smithy hearth. The interior retains its equipment and fixtures.
