Description

Milford Court, consisting of numbers 1 to 7, is a row of houses that were formerly shops, now converted into seven dwellings. They were built in the early 19th century and underwent extensive renovations around 1992. The front and right side are constructed from coursed sandstone, while the rear features a mix of limestone and sandstone rubble, along with some brick. The roof is made of Welsh slate.

The exterior is three stories high, with a six-window range facing Buxton Road and a two-window range that angles to the right on Mill Street. It has a plinth and chamfered quoins on the right side, along with a first-floor band. The various sash windows have projecting stone sills and raised ashlar surrounds, with most on the ground and first floors being 8/8 and those on the second floor being 4/8. The second and third bays have 6/6 sashes beneath 3/6 sashes. The first and second bays have been refaced on the ground floor, with a window to the left of the door. The third bay features a window in an infilled archway. The fourth bay has an original window, while the fifth bay includes a doorway with a six-panel door and an overlight with glazing bars set within a stone architrave with a cornice. The sixth bay has been refaced.

The building has an eaves band and cornice, with ashlar stacks at the ends and a ridge stack. The fifth and sixth bays have a higher roofline. The rear elevation is irregular, featuring a brick stair turret and a gabled two-storey wing on the right, along with a blocked archway.

The interior has not been inspected, but the brick stair turret contains a stone spiral staircase.
