Description
Melbourne House is a house built in the late 18th century, with alterations made in the late 19th century. It is constructed from deeply-coursed, dressed sandstone and features a stone slate roof. The building has three storeys and a two-window range. The original wing at the rear left has been extended to the rear and now spans the full width of the house. It has large quoins and a 20th-century six-panel door to the left of centre, which is framed by an ashlar surround. The windows are 20th-century casements set in original openings, complete with projecting sills and raised ashlar surrounds. The gable copings are plain with upstands made of ashlar. There are brick end stacks with ashlar bands, although the left stack has been truncated. Inside, the hall contains two 18th-century six-panel doors, while the rear wing features a late 19th-century tiled floor and staircase.
