Description
Chinley Head Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed from coursed gritstone rubble and features large quoins and gritstone dressings. The roof is made of stone slate, with stone stacks at the gable end and ridge. The building is two storeys high and has a T-plan layout.
On the east elevation, there is a projecting off-centre two-storey bay that includes a central doorcase with chamfered quoining. The door is a 20th-century studded wooden door. To the north of the bay, there is a 20th-century casement window with a 17th-century lintel above it. To the south, there are two 20th-century casement windows, with the southernmost window featuring a 17th-century recessed and chamfered surround topped with a drip mould. There is an inserted door beyond this window. Above the door in the projecting bay, there is a 20th-century window, and above the three windows below, there are more 20th-century casements set in 17th-century recessed and chamfered surrounds.
