Description

The Rectory is a building that was rebuilt in 1960, incorporating remains from the 17th and 18th centuries. It is constructed of limestone and gritstone rubble, with coursed squared gritstone, gritstone dressings, and quoins. The roof is made of stone slate, and there are stone gable end stacks. The building has two storeys and two bays.

The east elevation features a 2-light recessed and chamfered mullion window with segmental headed lights to the south. To the north, there is an inserted 20th-century window. In a recessed wing to the north, there are two late 18th-century moulded aedicules, with a 20th-century door on the southern one and a 20th-century window on the northern one. Above these, there is a 20th-century 4-light flush mullion window. To the south, there is an 18th-century flush mullion and transomed cross stair window, followed by another 18th-century window with 20th-century casements. The doorcase on the south elevation is a 20th-century addition that incorporates re-used 18th-century moulded stone brackets and a hood.

Inside, there is a notable mid-18th-century doglegged staircase featuring turned balusters, scrolled tread ends, a moulded handrail, and raised and fielded panelling below the second flight.
