Description
The gate to the west of Abbots Grove is an early 19th-century gateway and gates made of sandstone and wrought iron. It features chamfered square piers with plain capitals that support a lintel with a segmental arch underneath. The dropped keystone is carved with flowers, and there is a raised central block made of rock-faced stone. The sides and top have flat copings, and there are triangular finials at the center and sides. The original iron gate below has vertical bars that rise to the center, topped with acorn finials, and are tied by curved bands that end in scrolls. This structure is included for its group value only.
