Description
The stables to Middleton Hall are an early 19th-century stable block built from regularly coursed squared gritstone. The structure features coped gables, a single ridge stack with coupled octagonal stone chimneys that have moulded caps, and a Welsh slate roof. The building has an 'L' plan and the north elevation is two storeys high with three bays and a stepped gable at the west end. Embattled square turrets rise above the eaves at the corners, and between two shallow turret projections that define the bays, there are narrow lights. The window openings in the three bays have stone surrounds, hood moulds with stops, and Gothic glazing. Additionally, there is a three-light chamfered mullioned window on the first floor at the east end. The south elevation features a large stone arch with projecting alternate archstones and two stable doors below.
